CCARC’s Repeaters

W3CPA 147.255 + 6KHz offset, PL 173.8 Hz FM

The W3CPA is located at the top of Rockton Mountain in Clearfield County.  It provides wide-area coverage from one of the tallest points in Central Pennsylvania.  The repeater itself is owned by the Clearfield County Emergency Management Agency and operated by the Clearfield County Amateur Radio Club.  Tower space is provided by Centre Communications on behalf of the Clearfield County Emergency Management Agency.  The repeater hosts the following nets:

  • Mondays 8 PM – Treasure Lake Sportsman’s Club Ham Radio Group Net
  • Tuesdays 7 PM – Clearfield County Amateur Radio Club Weekly Net

W3CPA 444.625+ DMR

The W3CPA DMR repeater is located on Rockton Mountain in Clearfield County.  The repeater puts out 100 watts and the antenna is at 330 feet above ground level, or 2,342 feet above average terrain.  This provides DMR service to a wide area of coverage.  The repeater is owned by the Clearfield County Amateur Radio Club.  Tower space is provided by Clearfield County Emergency Management Agency.  The repeater hosts the following nets:

  • Wednesdays 7:30PM – WPA Section DMR Net on talk group 31422 WPA.

WRDV964 462.650 + 5 MHz offset. PL 141.3 Hz GMRS

The WRDV964 GMRS service repeater is co-located at the top of Rockton Mountain with the W3CPA 147.255 repeater.  In fact the repeater controller is shared between both repeaters, on separate “ports”.  Coverage is nearly identical to that of the 2 meter band repeater and in provides a valuable service to the public.  While a GMRS license is required to use this repeater, there is no test.  This provides communications services to residents who have not yet taken the step of obtaining their amateur radio license, or simply don’t have sufficient interest.  CCARC has adopted a GMRS Usage Policy.  Click here for the details. 

W3CPA 145.370- D-STAR (Off Air)

The W3CPA D-STAR is currently under construction.   Expected completion date is Summer 2025.  When finished it will be located near Wallaceton, Boggs Township within Clearfield County.  From this tower site the repeater is expected to have significant coverage area.  This repeater was originally operated in State College PA by the Penn State Amateur Radio Club.  Due circumstances beyond their control, the repeater was dismantled and donated to the Philipsburg Amateur Radio Association.  A little more than 18 months later the Philipsburg ARA donated the equipment to the Clearfield County ARC.     The repeater will operate with 136 watts of effective radiated power and and the antenna is at 209 feet above ground level, or 2,178 feet above average terrain.  This will provide D-STAR service to a wide area of coverage.  The repeater hosts the following nets:

  • Mondays 9 PM – WPA D-STAR Net on reflector REF063 module C.
