Special Services Club Designation

On March 5th 2025 Tim N3PUL, CCARC President, received notification from Leona Adams W1LGA at the American Radio Relay League headquarters in Connecticut that the CCARC application for designation as a Special Services Club had been approved. In Leona’s email, she stated “Congratulations!  The SSC status for the NEW Clearfield County Amateur Radio Club, W3CPA has been approved.”
CCARC first made application for this designation in January 2025.  That application was returned to us citing deficiencies in the the information provided on the application.  CCARC followed up with an amended application in February which now has been approved.  The process of becoming a Special Service Club starts with making an application to the ARRL.  That application is routed to the local ARRL Section for approval before being forwarded on to the ARRL Division Staff and finally the ARRL headquarters staff in Newington Connecticut.
The Special Service Club designation is really a recognition that we are doing everything we need to do in promoting our club and providing a welcoming environment for anyone wishing to learn about amateur radio.   It’s a good feather to have in our cap as we move forward knowing that we have the support of the ARRL behind us.
Congratulations is in order for all of us!   Its awesome to be associated with an active group like we have built.   But there’s more we can do.  On the horizon are more group projects and opportunities for personal and organizational growth.   There’s no stopping us now!
