The Western Pennsylvania Section of the American Radio Relay League Field Organization has announced plans to conduct a Simulated Emergency Test, or SET, on Saturday April 5th 2025.
According to a statement on the WPA ARRL web site, the focus will be on providing communications support for a wide-scale event like floods, tornadoes, or hazmat accidents that involve evacuations. “The primary goal of the 025 WPA Spring SET is for ARES units and radio clubs to set up and establish amateur radio communications capability at remote shelter sites or facilities and contact each other field day style.”
Clearfield County amateur radio operators have the opportunity to participate in this SET which would advance the emergency communications skills needed for an actual EmComm event requiring communications assistance.
